The first thing you will need to do is probably the easiest thing of all: Fill out a simple questionnaire. It is an important step, and it is best to do it as soon as possible. Filling it out early ensures that we have everything we need lined up and ready to go! It will cover everything from which princess you want to attend your event to where you are planning to have the party. It only takes a few minutes and is an invaluable planning tool for everyone involved.

Location, Location, Location

If you have not decided this already, you need to get your venue nailed down. Your house or backyard are great options, but so are parks, banquet halls, and botanical gardens. If you want to do it somewhere other than your house, get that reservation made now!

The Royal Proclamation

Next, develop your guest list and send out invitations. Make sure that everyone coming knows that it is a princess party, and that they should dress up as a princess or prince themselves and be ready for fun! A week or more before your event, get your birthday cake ordered from your local bakery. Apart from the visiting princess, this will be the most photographed and remembered detail of your princess’ amazing day. It’s ok to go over the top. Pinks, purples, yellow, silver, gold… Tiny edible pearls, flowers… What may seem a bit garish to your adult tastes will floor your little girl with opulence. This isn’t for Martha Stewart. Get your little girl’s favorite colors in there and just go nuts! Don’t forget to get it in her favorite flavor, too, or get a multi-flavored cake to appeal to everyone. Just make sure to get it ordered early. You do not want to be running to the store the night before in a panic, hoping they can get what you want done in time.

Details and finishing touches are not just for a spectacular dessert. Remember those colors from the cake you ordered, because now it is time to decorate. Paper streamers are the most reliable “go-to” party decoration because they are so adaptable. They can be draped across the ceiling, wrapped around posts or trellises, and twisted around each other to make multi-colored decorations. Balloons are always a huge hit. When a friend of a princess went out into the world, they were frequently given a “favor,” usually a trinket or monogrammed handkerchief, to remind them of their close friendship with the royal family. Let your princess’ friends have something to remember this special day by with a small token gift. You can put together bags of candy, play jewelry, toys, buttons, coloring books… Really anything with a princess theme.
